My name is Jindřich “Hank” Mika, and I love film photography. For many years, I have carried a camera with me wherever I go, using it to capture beautiful things around me all across the world. This website exists as a home for some of those photographs and as a way for people to either purchase them as delivered physical prints or download scans to create their own prints.
I choose to work with film because of its honesty. Photographs on film are shaped by light, time, and chemistry rather than by heavy digital manipulation. While many modern photographs are built through layers of editing, I aim to stay close to what was actually in front of my lens. The colours in my photographs come from natural chemical reactions within the film, not from sliders or presets, and I find that this process gives each image a more genuine and grounded feeling.
Of course, 35 mm film has its limitations, particularly when it comes to scaling, grain, dynamic range, and the way colours can shift depending on film stock and lighting. But those limits are also part of what gives film its character. Each photograph carries a clear imprint of the environment it was taken in, from the quality of the light to the conditions of the place itself. To me, this is what makes film photography feel alive, personal, and timeless.
All of the photographs you see here are high-quality scans of 35 mm film. They are slightly upscaled and prepared for modern printing, while preserving the natural look of the original image.
The prints available on this website are produced on demand by my business partner, Printify. They are printed in Germany on high-quality photographic paper with a matte finish, chosen to reduce glare and preserve fine detail and colour. If you choose a framed option, your print will arrive with a protective acrylic glass cover and sawtooth hanging hardware, ready to be displayed as soon as it reaches your wall.
Shipping and framing physical prints can be costly, especially for larger formats. For those who prefer to work with their own local printing provider or who want more flexibility in size or finish, I also offer digital downloads. There are two options available: a lower-resolution JPEG suitable for small prints or personal use, such as a desktop background, and a very large, print-ready PDF in A1 size (84 × 59 cm / 33 × 23 in), complete with crop marks and CMYK colour formatting.
Using the A1 PDF, you can create prints even larger than the sizes I offer here, all at a high 300 DPI resolution. Digital downloads are more affordable because they do not include printing or shipping costs. They are intended strictly for personal use and are not permitted for resale or any commercial purposes.
